The moment has arrived, we uncover the entrance of iGO 2006SE and we ask our venturesome users to help finding hiding bugs.
First of all the new features:
- Dead reckoning: When the GPS sign is interrupted (for example in tunnels or at other covered places) the program will continue navigating using the last knows speed and the navigation route till next navigation point , but till maximum 10 minutes.
- Smart keyboard: when searching for addresses you can only press the next possible characters, the rest are inactive and greyed.
- Totally reworked GPS handling, new set up possibilities Not all PDA supports this function! (for example Asus 632/636)
- Taking into account the TMC data in route calculation (TMC receiver is needed for using it, in some countries the TMC service is not available.).
- Speed cameras: using road safety cameras, which can be created in iGO, but txt and kmz format files can also be used.
- Directly dialling from the POI telephone numbers (only on supported devices)
- Starting to navigate from Outlook Contacts program
- Contacts with addresses in Outlook can be seen as own POI-s/Imported category (if the address was filled correctly)
- Carpool lane handling (at the moment it can be used only in the USA).
- Refurbished address handling (It was extended with the feature named: “searching house number in all streets in the list”).
- Enhanced routing.
- Enhanced avoid function
- Better voice command fitting to the situation
- Faster map display
- In 3D mode the tilt of the map is changing with the zoom level.
- More supported devices (Also old devices)
- The sorting of list of track has changed, the more recent tracks are on the top.
- The automatic position and intelligent zooming restore does not effect the map view mode
- A pile of important but not visible modification
The installation steps are as follows (only for experienced users. It is handy using a card reader:
- It is very important, that only the original files must be on the card in the iGO directory. If anything has been modified (sys.txt, data.zip, etc.), than restore the original 2006 state .
- Backup the whole card and the PDA/My Documents/iGO 2006/iGO.db file.
- Download the zipped package, unzip it.
- Overwrite all files on the card with the unzipped files.
- Insert the card into the SWICHED ON PDA.
- Answer the popping up question (A newer version is found on the card. Would you like to install it? ) with YES
- Exit from the program, if it would start because of auto start.
- Using file explorer start SETUP.EXE on the card (by tapping only once).
- Answer the popping up question (would you like to install the program?): YES.
. Answer the second question (Overwrite existing files and setups?): NO
- After some seconds the program should launch.
- Exit from the program and press a soft reset.
If there was an error during installation, please post a report with the following data:
- Device type
- Operating system (2003, 2003SE, 2005).
- Which of the installation step was problematic?
- What is the error?
- Before installation which screen mode was used (landscape or prorate)
Do not forget: this is “only” and update, the big changes will be in the new version (2007).
